On March 26, 2025, Bangladesh commemorated its 55th Independence and National Day with solemn ceremonies at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar. President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus led the nation in honoring the valiant martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War.

At approximately 5:50 AM, President Shahabuddin placed a floral wreath at the memorial’s altar, standing in silent homage to the fallen heroes. Shortly thereafter, around 6:11 AM, Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus also laid a wreath, paying his respects to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom. A Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force contingent presented a state salute during these ceremonies, accompanied by the somber strains of the bugle’s last post.
